FAQ
Frequently asked questions about Electronic Invoicing
What is electronic invoicing in Costa Rica?
Electronic invoicing is the mandatory system through which taxpayers in Costa Rica issue digitally signed XML receipts and submit them to the Ministry of Finance for validation. The DYR Systems platform automates that entire process.
Which electronic documents can the system issue?
It issues electronic invoices, electronic tickets, credit notes and debit notes. Each document is generated in the official XML format, digitally signed and automatically submitted to Hacienda for acceptance.
What are CABYS codes and how does the system handle them?
CABYS is the Goods and Services Catalog that Hacienda requires on every line of an electronic invoice in Costa Rica. The system lets you assign a CABYS code to each product or service in the catalog so it is applied automatically at billing time.
Do I need a digital certificate to use it?
Yes. Signing electronic receipts requires the cryptographic key issued by the Ministry of Finance. The system includes a configuration section where you upload the certificate and register issuer data, consecutive numbers and branches.
Can I download the XML and PDF of my invoices?
Yes. Every receipt can be downloaded as a PDF for the customer and as XML for backup and accounting, and sales and tax reports export to spreadsheets.
